The art of precious scars

Precious Scars Counseling is the therapeutic embodiment of the Japanese art of kintsugi. Kintsugi is called the “art of precious scars” because it is the practice of repairing broken pottery with gold, to illuminate and honor the life of that piece. The "art of precious scars" is something that has deeply resonated with me as a person and as a therapist, and I strive to bring that theory into my practice with clients.

My goal in therapy is to create an environment that is safe for you to explore the weight of your world. I strive to be a companion during the perinatal period or in the aftermath of loss by identifying your strengths and finding tools and resources that will work for you. I am here to support you in building a life that honors that tender brokenness- your precious scars- and finding beauty and power in that fragility.

I’ve been where you are…

I have experienced my own devastation, frustration and loneliness in my journey to and through motherhood. I chose to be a therapist because of my personal experience with loss and my deep belief that we need community in this season of life. They say it “takes a village to raise a child.” But it also takes a community to support a parent. You don’t need to do this alone. I am glad you are here.
